Our Aim
​
Our aim is to help promote both physical and mental well-being to young people with Special Educational Needs and Learning Disabilities, whilst ensuring of course, that they are enjoying each session.

Physical and mental health are related, with one affecting the other:

Preventing, treating and managing physical health conditions also requires improving mental health and wellbeing.

Preventing, treating and managing mental health problems requires addressing physical health.

PROMOTING
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING

INCLUDING 1:1 SUPPORT
One-To-One Support
Dedicated 1:1 support is available whilst accessing our services, to ensure a feeling of safety or being fully supported during activities at our centre or when out in the community.
1:1 support can be booked on an hourly basis to suit individual needs your needs with a sessional support worker through DMBC.
Activity Day Care
This service is available to young people and adults with Special Education Needs and Learning Disabilities who are looking for additional activities and support during the week.
Available: Monday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. (Other days available on request.)
Cost: £25
Food: Packed lunch required.

Life Skills: We also provide life skills development for each Activity Day Care attendee. This covers several areas including social and communication skills, cooking with confidence, budgeting and money handling.

We also focus on independence and support with each individual being encouraged to make their own choices.
​

We visit local shops and amenities using public transport to encourage learning about;

Regular visits to local shops to buy ingredients for baking and cooking help promote several life skills including;

Improving independence
There will also be the opportunity to bake and cook with ingredients that they will have grown at the allotment themselves from start to finish, which brings great satisfaction.

Sports: We are able to offer a range of multi sports, delivered by a qualified level 3 sports coach.
​
Participating in sports has a wide range of benefits. With our carefully designed specific session plans not only will young people learn about sports, they will also gain independence, build confidence and have fun.
​
All of our sports are designed to assist in physical and social rehabilitation and enhance achievement, which in turn will develop sporting ability, and many other important life skills.
​
We deliver sports sessions for all abilities including wheelchair users, with plans being developed and adapted to each individual, to ensure that each young person gains the maximum benefit and fun from their chosen sport.
Sports sessions include;

• Archery,
• Curling
and many more.

​
We also have access to;
​
• A fully equipped sports hall
• A flood lit Muga
• Outdoor gym equipment at Sandall Park

After School Club​
​
This service is available to children and young people to participate in fun activities in a friendly and safe environment.
Available: Monday 4.15pm - 6.45 pm
(ages 6 - 11)
​
Thursday 4pm - 7pm
(ages 12 - 19)
​
Food: £2 if tea is required otherwise bring your own sandwiches etc. There is also a tuck shop for sweets and pop.
